Policy Guidelines

Lab Hours & Maintenance Schedule

Wharton Computing manages the Wharton School's four (4) Student Computer Labs. The labs are primarily reserved for instructional use by faculty who teach Wharton courses. To reserve a Student lab, send mail to: labs@wharton.upenn.edu. The information listed below outlines the policies of the Wharton School's Student Computer Labs.

The labs follow the building hours:

Fall/Spring

24 hours a day / 7 days a week

Summer

 

7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. / 7 days a week

Holiday Hours

7:00am - 7:00pm

(Entrance and exit only from Locust Walk doors after 7:00 p.m., Monday – Sunday and holidays.)

The labs are closed when being cleaned by housekeeping which is before 8:00 a.m. daily and as required for software installation and other maintenance such as software installations, patching, and upgrading the computers. Computers that have had software patches applied will be restarted overnight, normally around 3 a.m.

Maintenance Schedule

When the printers are out of paper, have a jam, need toner, etc, email: consultant@wharton.upenn.edu. Give the printer number and the location (this information is on the front of the printer or when you select print from the file menu the name of the printers are in the print drop-down menu). A lab technician is available to respond according to the following schedule.

During regular classes:

M,W,F

8:00am - 7:00pm

T, R

 

8:00am - 5:00pm

SA, S

10:00am - 7:00pm

When classes are not in session, and during the summer:

M - F

8:00am - 5:00pm

Wharton Account Required
Because the computer labs are intended for Wharton use, a Wharton account is required for access to any student lab computer, group workstation or classroom computer. By policy, the Wharton School does not issue guest accounts. Therefore, if you want to reserve a computer lab, you must have a Wharton account. To obtain an account, if you do not already have one, please do the following depending on your status:

Wharton faculty and staff: Contact your department's Computing Representative to obtain an account.

Non-Wharton faculty and staff: Contact accounts@wharton.upenn.edu for a domain account after your lab reservation has been made.

Students: Contact consultant@wharton.upenn.edu to obtain an account after your lab reservation has been made.
